Starting 120 gallon

I have set up a used 120 with live sand and about 20 pds of liverock with some baserock. The sand hasn't seemed to completely settle (I have moved the rock around a couple of times desturbing the sand bottom). The tank has been running for five days now and the tank is not all the way clear yet. I am running a red sea skimmer in the sump at the moment. Lots of green in the skimmer bubbles being filtered out. Is there any way the blue and white padding that I have seen in some systems will clear the residue sand out of the water? (sorry, don't know the technicle term for the blue filter padding) The pic I have posted is before I moved some rock around. The side view was worse than this pic of course. Was hazy.
