It seems to me that you really aren’t taking anyone’s advice and continue to “do what you want” at your fishes expense. Your tank probably still isn’t cycled and until that happens you shouldn’t add anything to the tank period.

Starfish in particular have very high water quality demands and I would say your tank is no where close to meeting those requirements.

Slow down, take the one fish alive back to the store, properly cycle your tank without fish and then worry about a clean up crew. Rushing things is only going to lead to more deaths

TheChad- Post another pic of your tank with the algae in it. Is the algae red or green, or a rusty brown?
