starting a saltwater tank

Ok I'm going to set up a 33 gallon tank in the near future and I have a few questions. This will be a fish only tank mabe with some live rocks (whats an alternatative to live rocks?) Is a Protein skimmer a must with only fish and live rock? is a hang over the back filter enough?? (its an aquaclear 300). lastly will a 50/50 20watt bulb be fine for fish only??

-thanks

An alternitive for the bio filtration the live rocks give you is canister filters, hang on filters or wet/dry filters. An alternitive for live rock as decoration would be dead and bleached coral skelitons, or any other item you want to decorate with.

No, about the only thing that is a MUST in saltwater is the saltmix and the water. Its highly recommended for the beginner but its not a must item.

If your doing fish only then any lighting will do. Its only when you jump to corals that you need the high output lighting.
