Maybe 6-8 months but a 30" tank just isn't fair to even the small guys. Why does he need those 2 fish. There are so many nice looking little fish so much more suited to that tank. Wait until he has a bigger tank to get them. Also, that emperor needs sponges and algae in it's diet. Sponges don't grow on coral inserts.

your tank the life span of your fish is cut In half no mater what tank size so befor you piss your pants wich I can see you already have just know that I have a completely reasonable stoking list
Lol what I'm so confused. Fish live longer in captivity with proper care then the wild... They don't have predators in a tank. That alone gives me a clue to your knowledge. You can stock your tank however just don't insult people who actually care about fish and give advice based on the question asked. Your 80 with the Picasso will eventually just have the Picasso and then you can tell me all about how you're such an expert and I know nothing. Since you're such an expert why are you putting a coral insert in your tank and only 5 lbs of live rock?

I think I've said enough on this. If your friend has an issue tell him to pm me. This is getting kinda ridiculous
