I am brand new at this so bear with me. I'm doing some research into my first salt water set-up and would like some advice on stocking and tank size.

I would like to stock:

Inverts
Sea Cucumber
Lettuce Sea Slug
Feather Duster(s)
Brittle Sea Star
Pepermint Shrimp
Sexy Shrimp

Fish
Clown
+ two or more as yet unidentfied
possibles are Spotted Cardinal and Blue Dot Jaw

Macro Alge

In six months to a year introduce some LPS, soft corals, and possibly a bubble anemone

I would like to start of with live rock and a sand/crushed coral substrate. I was thinking of a 45-50 gallon tank in case I want to add more in the future.

Questions
What do you think of the choices for inverts?

With the inverts and fish what do you think of the population density for a 45 or 50 gallon tank? Should I go with a larger tank?

Is there a general rule of thumb for the amount (weight) of live rock and substrate per gallon of water or the dimension of tank?

Do you have any recomendations on beginner level fish that would do well in this environment.

Any comments or questions are welcome.

Thank you

Are there any books that could be recommended on starting up a saltwater setup and maybe answer some of my above questions.
