Stupid hermits

Bought a hundred assorted shells ranging from 1/4 inch to 2 inch so hermits didn't mess with the snails.
went to bed everyone was fine wake up to find a pile of snail guts 30 empty hermit crab shells and hermits dressed in what was my margarita and nitrate snail shells , my hermits wiped out my whole snail population in 1 night 30 snails doing there job gone poor guys

Unfortunately there is no way to stop the hermits from doing that.

I know that , but why didn't they use any of the 100 empty shells I added and why did they all do it at one time , just seems really odd to me ! what they do have a shell changing party and why wasn't I invited lol ,
just makes me angry I just spent all that good green paper stuff (money) on really nice cleaning snails for them to become a hermits new wardrobe when they have all these extra shells through out the tank they could have used

You could always just buy smaller snails. Lol
