-SUMP-How many hours light/day?caulerpa sexual
I hear many different opinions about the number of hours the macros need in the refugium. I have chaeto and caulerpa, and they seem to be growing pretty steadily with my nitrates giving me nice readings so far.
I currently have my sump lights on for 12 hours daily, but have heard of some people running lights like 24/7...?? Also, the 12 hr/day could allow the caulerpa going sexual and screwing up my water eventually?
Am I doing the right thing with the exposure time or would I get better nutrient retention with more hours?
I have low Kelvin light bulbs(5100K/6700K), 26w total and the refugium is small(8 gallons with a 4" sand bed). My display tank is a 20 gallon cube, so I could only fit a small sump underneath in the stand.
