Sump needed for a 37 gallon saltwater reef tank?

I am soon going to get a 37 gallon SW tank and wanted to know if i can use a canister or hob filter instead of a sump.

I'm sory your on the rong form for that there's a salt water one this is for freshwater
 
You can use a hob or canister for it. Just over filtration is best as always. I use a 40-60 aqualand on my 25, works great. Though I do plan on adding a 10g sump for a healthier environment an to keep smaller none reef safe creatures

Il be useing the canister filter
