Any suggestions on how to quite down the sump return pump? Could I put a sponge under it to help with the vibrating against the sump wall?

My mag 12 came with a square piece of what looked to be something like a piece of wet suit with an sticky side just for that purpose,...maybe something like a soft mouse pad might work for you ?

Place some sand into a small ziplock bag - enough to create a cushion or pillow. Put that under the pump.

You can also try a product: Sound Dampening Pads - English

I found the sand more effective, but ultimately sold my mag 7 and now use a dead quiet Marineland Maxi-Jet 3000.
