Sump question

How big should a sump be for a 90 gallon tank?

As big as you can fit under the stand. The bigger the better. Leaves lots of room for skimmer....etc. Just my opinion.

At the minimum, i'd use a 40g breeder tank. Don't use a 55g if you can help it. The 40g is wider, has no middle brace to mess with your setup, and is much easier to use etc.

I think it's also noteworthy to make sure you measure the distance between baffles/compartments for all your equipment- don't forget that.

I'm not a big fan of bio-balls, and that one uses them. Also, just me personally, I would opt for one with a refugium.

I'm using a 20g tank made into a sump for my 90g I'm in the middle of setting up now.

If you are going with a reef tank with corals then a refugium might be a cool thing to have. If you are going just fish only then a regular sump with a skimmer should do the trick. here's one I would consider

Eshopps RS 100 Berlin Style Reef Sump, for tanks 75-125 gallons - AquaCave

I have a mix of many different saltwater fish amongst my tanks, but I love my Tangs most of all.

Ok, I got my sump built and have my new tank set up but the sump lets out a small amount of mist that is wetting the inside of my stand. Is this normal?

Sniper, I checked all the plumbing and no leaks. I checked with a flashlight and I can see the mist coming from the sumps first chamber where I have my sand / live rock.
