My friend and I were toying with the idea of home-made sumps....
Our idea is to set up a 20g tank underneath an existing tank, put our heaters, protein skimmers, filters, etc in the "sump", then run a powerhead to the tank from the sump, and a powerhead from the tank to the sump.....would this work?
Our only problem is calibrating the water flow so it is evenly matched from tank to sump and sump to tank. If they're not, then one would overflow.
Now if I sit down and crack open the old physics book and figure out the gravitational force pulling down I could probobly get it right, but my main thing is.....is this theory workable?
