will sunlight work as lighting for a tank?....i have a 40g tank that is sitting about 50% in front of window...i will be moving up to a 90g soon...then, about 2/3 of the tank will be in front of the window

in may or the beginning of june a cananpy will be put up....at that point the sunlight will be reduced to morning light

anyways, i like the sunlight shining through the tank and haven't had any problems with it

is that enough lighting to maintain something like a long tentacle anemone?

thanks much:)

window lighting is a recipe for nuisance algae. As far as the anemone goes, no, nowhere near enough lighting.

I agree that it`s not enough and Mrs Hara is right about the algea. Anybody that I know that had theirs by a window had algea problems.

thanks, guys....the tank has been running for about 4 mos now and i haven't had an algae issue, which i was aware could happen

on a sunny day (without the canapy up), the tank gets a good 5-6 hrs of sunlight...maybe more

thanks for the link, but i couldn't get to the article...help?:)
