surface ripple

just a quick quick question. i here alot about the surface ripple can play a major role in your PH. i was wondering how much of a ripple u need. i dont know how u would be able to explain it. but should u hear the water in the tank moving around on the top? or should u not hear anything?

As long as the current breaks the surface of the water slightly you should be fine. You do not want to aggitate the surface too much or you will spend a lot of time cleaing up salt creep from the frame of your tank and your lighting.

I agree...I have a tunze nano-stream pointed towards the surface and it creates a nice amout of surface aggitation. Too much and you'll end up with a mess!

I also agree. You dont have to hear it but seeing it would be nice. It accomplishes two things. Good gas exchange at the surface (provided you dont have a glass top) and good aeration in your tank. surface aggitation is a good thing.
