T-5 lighting?

I tried searching but came up short for what I wanted to know. With t-5 Normal output tubes can I use a fixture from Home Depot? as long as the wattage for each bulb is under 21 watts?

If not when refferring to CF you mean the swirl normal light socket bulbs correct? If so would 3 bulbs equivalent to 300 watts of incandescent be enough for normal algae growth, maybe some soft coral?

my tanks a 35 gallon at 18" high 36"long 12" width.
thanks so much

You should be fine with T-5 fixtures from HD, yes. But I'll let you get verification from soemone else.

CF screw bulbs are only available to screw into an incandescent socket. You can get CF fixtures though, that pack about as much light as T-5. They will run you about $140 bucks.

I would not attempt keeping corals under incandescent or regular flourescent bulbs, they just aren't strong enough. If you can get a few screw in CF bulbs over your tank, that should be fine.

HTH and welcome to AA.
