I so want a Tang but I only have a 55g Reef. It's too big for my tank. Are there other species of fish that love algae that would live indefinitely in a 55g tank?

:( Any advice would be appreciated.

No tang in a 55 sorry
Buying a fish to fix the problem is not going to fix it. You just feed more, test. maybe a phosphate reactor.

I'm not trying to get a tang. I would just like to know of an alternative to a tang.

Algae Blenny or
Lawnmower Blenny derives its name from its remarkable ability to keep algae growth in the check in the aquarium and this – combined with its charming disposition – has made it a popular aquarium inhabitant among marine aquarists despite its rather plain appearance. It is famous for eating hair algae; a type of algae shunned by most other algae eating fish species.
Hope that helps
