How much of a temp swing between day and night is safe for a tank?

mine goes from about 80.7 during the day to 79.5ish at night.

1 degree isn't bad at all. My tank swings from 79.5 to 82 on hot days. In our old house it used to get as warm as 84 degrees...so we bought a new house that stays cooler. See where my priorities are

that is really good. ours goes from 79.5 - 82.5 on hot days

mine us to go 77 to 86 at its worst, and all my fish got sick. so i got a chiller
