Hi everyone, what do you guys think about using tap water in my aquarium (that I am still deciding if it will be fw or sw). I have heard that it is very bad for your aquarium. I don't have enough money to get a RO/DI unit or buy water from my lfs. Would this work? I live in Nepean On.

Thanks

I use my tap for my 180g aquarium.
I would only use tap on a fish only salt water tank.
What is your tap water like?
pH/gH/kH

I don't actually have a test kit because I have a freshwater aquarium and my tap water works fine for it....

That is comparing apples to oranges. Tap simply isn't ok in sw long term. It is distilled or ro/di. The stuff in the water can straight do nasty things to the fish, even if it is good for us. If you can't afford the upstart price, then you should save up and not start off at this time. It doesn't get cheaper.
