temperature rising w heater off!

My 55 gallon is all set up... i will be ordering lr within the next week or 2 to cycle it. however, my temperature seems to be at a steady 80 degrees and the heater is set at 75 deg. the basement where the tank is is about 70 - 74 deg depending on the day. could the heat be from the other equipment? i have 3 maxijet powerheads running and a mag 7 pump in my sump. lights have been off since there is nothing to see yet. thanks!

I would run a test with all equipment on, including lights, and see just how hot you're gonna get. Right now, you're actually around the ideal temp of 80. You should set your heater to 80 too so there aren't any large swings.

If your lights add another degree or two I wouldn't be worried at all. It only becomes a problem once you start getting mid to high 80's.
