I'm using the Mardel 5 in 1 and the ammonia strips. The LFS I've been to all seem to use them. Is this a good test kit or should i go with another brand?

Also, my tank has been cycling for the last 25 days my readings today were.

Nitrate 80
Nitrite 0 which has never changed
PH 8.1
ALk 125
Ammonia .025 which has never changed

I have 55gal with 2 sally light foots, 1 hermit, 3 damsels and 6 lbs of LR.
Next week the good ole IRS is coming through and I'm picking up about 50 to 75 pounds of LR. When can i expect my readings to change?

Thanks

IMO, the test strips are not very accurate and for most things I would go with a better kit, I tend to recommend Salifert, since that is what I use.

Are the colors on the Salifert tests easier to read? I hate not being able to tell if its this ppm or that ppm...

Salifert is good for pretty much everything. They are easy to read and easy to use.
