Test Results so far

Hey guys,
DAY 9 OF CYCLE.

My ammonia is still on the rise, at 1 now.
Nitrites are rising now, they are at 7 now.
Nitrates are going up and down, they are at 5.

Specific Gravity is steady at 1.0225, but I topped off water today, and may need to add a little salt to get it where it needs to be.

PH is fairly steady, at 8.1 now.

Alk is steady as well, at 4.5.

I do have one question, the shrimp is covered in this clear looking stuff, pretty thick, what is it? Is that normal?

High nitrite levels can affect nitrate levels, don't bother with nitrate till nitrite level drops. Sounds like the shrimp is decomposing, which is what you want.

You shouldn't have to add salt to top off water. The water evaporates but the salt doesn't. That is why it is so important to do top offs frequently because the salinity will continue to climb as the water evaporates.
