Testing and skimmer question

is there a complete water testing kit out there to start with ? I have a 75 gallon tank. setting it up soon. a friend has a almost new skimmer but it was for a bigger tank. can you have to much of a skimmer ? thanks for the help

salifert is a good reliable test kit out there, but the complete version is quit a bit of money, i would suggest the essentials for now because you are just starting.....the skimmer will be fine, do you know what brand??

It is possible to overskim but many skimmers are overrated when it comes to how many gallons they are good for.
