Think I got it

Been doing a ton of reading. I want to end up w/a 75g reef tank but am going to start out w/FOWLR 'cause I dont know squat yet. Is this correct? The water drains to the sump, past skimmer, throught baffles, then gets returned to display?

Welcome to AA

Yes, you have it right. melevsreef.com covers all the details as well as our article on sumps in the SW article section at the top of this page.

I'd also read the post on making a DIY sump.

P.S. All links are bold.

WELCOME TO AA!!!

Please do not cycle your tank with live animals.

I think Micah covered it. Ask away, we love questions!

Either way, only difference is price with externals running slightly higher IME. I use a Mag 9.5 pump (internal) which gives about 800 gph with a 4 foot head. If you use rubber stoppers on the bottom and plumb it well it's very quite.

I bought mine at bestnest.com which shipped it to my house in 2 days
