Thinking of getting a new fish.

I have a 55 g reef tank and I am thinking about getting a new fish but don't know what to get anyone have any ideas

Oh so you don't have a lot yet. Wrasses are my favorite type of fish, so that would be awesome in your tank. Also, the midas blenny has lots of personality/movement or a firefish.

I have heard that wrasses are not good in reef tanks is that true.

Depends on the wrasse. Some are and some aren't. Live aquaria is a good source for this info and saltwater fish.com breaks the ones they sell into reef and non reef safe.

All fairy wrasses are reef safe and are the majority of the options that can go in a 55. There are other cool reef safe wrasses that aren't fairy wrasses.

A school of green chromis or a firefish would be neat.
