The paint on the tank is textured and I need a smoother finish. I was going to go with a matte black.

Oh. So you're sanding it to remove the old paint then? I always just used a razor blade with the holder people use to get paint off of windows. I've had success in the past with matte spray enamel. Everybody has their own way of doing it. Can't wait to see how yours comes out!

Thanks! Ya I'm sanding to get the paint off. I might use a razor, sanding is hard because I'm trying to get as little dust in the tank as possible. I'm going to be using a roller brush because it's in my basement, I cant spray anything. I do have a nice matte black spray paint that I could use for the doors though... I'd just be worried that the colors would be different.

Just started priming everything, the doors are finished and now they need the black. The stand is about a fifth of the way primed. I'm trying to do small increments so the tank doesn't take in too many fumes.

Finished the priming, now all I need to do is paint it black! I've changed my mind, I'm going to do an eggshell instead of matte.

* I've taken step by step pics, I'll post once I'm done with the whole project.

First coat of black interior eggshell enamel paint finished, looks just how I wanted it. I'm probably going to do two more coats and save the rest for the canopy.

To anyone doing the same as me, USE GREY PRIMER!!! Lol it would have been a lot easier. I could have probably been done in two coats instead of three.

Its a trap! Id only have a kenya tree if it was free for in the 36. I then wouldnt really care if it lived or died. I wouldnt do it.

I'm thinking so too, but there is another person giving away a Hollywood stunner chalice! I'm going to probably meet with him and buy a few sps also because I'm not making a computer anymore, well at least for now.

Man, giving away chalice? I live in the wrong part of pa... Ill try giving away free kick in the rear and see if i get any results.

The lfs Never called back about the fish.. Whatever I guess. I'm going to get 1 or 2 free corals on Sunday most likely, one Hollywood stunner chalice and one Kenya tree. I'm also going to be buying a few, probably one green slimer and maybe something else that catches my eye.

Sounds like a plan, besides that dirty kenya tree...but gl with it. I was able to kill mine off.
