Putting it in the container that you mix your saltwater in would be a bad idea. It needs an ammonia source to remain "live" rock. So in essence you'd just have another tank that you'd have to empty and take the rock out of when you want to do a PWC. You have to mix the salt well in advance of the PWC so you'd have some die off by the time you got it back in the bucket with new water.

That's true. But you can always add ammonia and wait until it goes down when you want to remove it. But I guess it isn't worth the hassle lol

Yea if it were me I'd either dry it out or buy a bigger tank lol.

Yea my tanks a 75. Check the classifieds on this site. I believe Carey's still selling a 55 setup. Not to mess up the sale lol but the extra 6" of depth is nice.

yep, a 75g would be my choice over a 55g anyday. The 6 extra inches are really noticed.
