Well, this build is rather unanticipated. Last night I noticed that a small scratch that I had made with some substrate and the algae cleaner has gone from being app. 2.5 inches to 6.5 inches . I'm pretty sure the "scratch" now qualifies as a crack on the front of my 28 g. bowfront. So, I'm of to buy a new tank and, since the stand fits a 40 gallon, I figure I might as well upgrade it a bit.
Since I'm going to move everything from the 28 gallon over to the new tank, I don't think it has to cycle, right? Luckily lights and filter will fit. I'm not sure my protein skimmer is large enough, though, but hopefully it will cut it with weekly pwc's. I guess I need another koralia and a couple new rocks... and some more substrate... and some spray-paint. I'm definitely going to paint the back of this tank black. Going to be a fun weekend project!
On the bright side, I get to add another fish and there's more room for corals
