I just set up a saltwater aquarium. My friend is guiding me through the process, but I'm having trouble understanding the water cycle. I'm not quite grasping it. How long does it take? When will I know when it's finished, and all the other little things inbetween. I understand the process, as far as fish waste turning to ammonia, from the ammonia comes nitrite, then nitrate. I guess I'm looking for more detail. Also, if anyone could reccomend a good book for explaining such things, I would greatly appriciate it.

"The New Marine Aquarium" by Michael Paletta is a must have for all sw tank newbies, JMO. I think youll enjoy reading it.

Definiteley read that book. i got mine at B&N for $20. They ordered it in in three days. You will learn alot. My tank cycle took 5 weeks.

But go get that book and see what you will learn.
