What are these things?

Everytime I clean my filter out I find a lot of these guys, and occasionally see them swimming in the tank... They are approx 1mm long at full size... Then there are also much smaller ones in the filter...

What are they?

Those are amphipods, a great pod to have.

Why is it beneficial to have them? Just trying to figure out what they are, and what they are for.... What they eat ect...

All pods are good to have. They are perfect scavengers and are a good food source for many fish.

Looks like a roach haha but no it's a good thing
