I am from Australia, I see people say using "egg crates" as a top to prevent fish from jumping out but do not stop light penetrating the water. How exactly does it look like?

The egg crates here in Australia is brown in color like the cardboard material is that the same as those you have got there in the US? I have got no idea how it can let the light through???

Any picture or elaboration will be nice. Thanks.

egg crate is a term used to describe some florecent light grids. They are grids of small usually 1/2" squares in a plastic 2X3' square sheet that is used to put on a florecent light fixture to protect the blub but also allow light thru.

ya what fishfreek said...except i hated the stuff. It blocked so much light for me so i just ditched it and built a fish-proof canopy

I see I see the picture describes everything. Thanks guys!!!

Thanks a lot! Aquotix is not too far away from my place...
