I have a 48" aquaticlife T5HO that I'm happy with. Ran me about $130. but I believe for easy to care for corals you could get away with some high end PCs...am I correct? It'd be alot cheaper.

My take is 12" wide. standard 55g tank but higher making it a 60g.

no power compacts are not really cheaper then T5s they are more or less the same price, but lack the output and the bulbes are more expensive to replace

Gotcha. Learn something new everyday!

Thank you for the link. That will really help. One more thing is there anyway to bond live rock together? I am trying to figure that out.

My LFS keeps everything under PC bulbs, sps included. As long as they are close enough to the light just about anything can go under PC bulbs. They have acropora, porites etc. in their 1' deep tank under maybe 3 watt per gallon of PC and they look healthy and fluoresce.

I think i have a basic understanding of what lights i need.
