What kind of corals can i have with this lighting?

Coralife 48" t5 dual lamp of 54watt. For a 55g tank

You can have almost anything, depending on placement. Higher light corals will need to be up very high, close to the light. What corals are you wanting?

that's not true in my experience. you aren't going to be able to keep any sps colored up, nor will it grow very much, no matter how high in the tank it is.
softies and some lps would be the limit IME.

Oh ok, I was thinking about some mushrooms to start off

Good thinking. For now sticking with mushrooms, zoanthids, Xenia, etc. is your best option. As you and the tank grow you can add a second 2-bulb HOT5 fixture and then be ready to keep well colored LPS and SPS.
