I am setting up a 40 gal acrylic corner tank, and I am starting on lighting from scratch. Need to know what will be sufficient yet the most affordable.

I plan on having small fish, a couple shrimp and most likely some live rock, no corals, etc.

I probably can only have a 24" long fixture due to size.

What would be sufficient for this setup? I was looking at a 24" fixture with one 65w 50/50 bulb, would this be enough? Can I just get regular flourescent lighting instead? Thanks in advance!

If you want to keep the rock happy, you might want to look more towards a couple of 55W PC bulbs. I would go with a 50/50 and a True actinic.
