We purchased live rock today to put in brand new tank. When put live rock in tank there was a hermit crab on rock. Is it okay for hermit crab to be in there at this point?

I would wait for your fishless cycle to take place first. You will be experience a high reading of ammonia which will be detrimental to your clean up crew

Just leave in any hitch hikers that came in on the LR. Let your tank cycle normally using the "fishless" method. If youare concerned, you can certainly do PWC during the cycle to keep NH3 and NO2 at less toxic levels, however, it will prolong your cycle. Once your cycle has completed and levels remain acceptable for a few days you can start adding a clean up crew.
