When to start w/a skimmer?

New here Have a question...

When do you start using a skimmer with a new tank? I heard you should wait for about 4 months.

You can start using a skimmer as soon as you like, however, it will not have much benefit as there are no DOC for it to remove. Once you start adding livestock and feeding you can go ahead and start the skimmer.

Yep, don't need to skim during cycling, but the day you add your first fish, you should turn the skimmer on.

please tell us your setup?
I am jsut ending my cycling and i actually started my skimmer up to break it in about 2 weeks ago....just to help clear up the water....of course i started my cycling with LR
