Yellow Tang in a 55gal tank

I'm wanting peoples opinions on how a yellow tang would fare in a 55 gal tank thats doing very well.

I'd say it really depends on what you want to see out of the fish. In order to get full growth and maintain optimum health that type of tang normally would need a 6ft long 125 gal tank. Living in the smaller 55 will increase the stress level of the fish over time and instead of having him long term, he may only last a year or two.

There's a reason that minimum tank sizes are listed. Fish will be stressed in a smaller space. Their growth may stunted externally, but their internal organs will continue to grow (I believe that is the point of the post that Mike is referring to).

Ok i wont get yellow tang. Are there any other tangs that would be happy in a 55 gal?

But I personally think you could have a yellow eyed Kole tang in that size tank. I had one in my 55 for 4 yrs before upgrading to my 125.
