Would love some advice on completing our 55 gallon with Pearl Gouramis.

Did a fishless cycle, have been gradually adding fish since January. Currently we have:

7 Black Phantom Tetras
6 Panda corys
6 otos
6 platys
2 girl guppies

Everyone plays well together and it's a peaceful tank.

Would love to add a "centerpiece" fish, and strongly considering Pearl Gourami. Keeping the peace is a priority. Do we have room for 3 Pearls, or would we better off with a couple or a bachelor?

thanks!

Hi!

Unless you are breeding or have a huge huge tank it is best to only have 1 gourami per tank. This is because gourami have a tendency to show aggression towards each other. People have defied the odds and done multiple but in most cases the tank is heavily planted or it does not end well for one or both of them.

Thanks, Caleb. I think we are going to just try one male. Don't want to push our luck on stocking capacity or aggression issues.
