Update:
I am close to done with it!
My betta is doing perfect! And out of the 5 neon tetras, I have 4 left now, I suspect the disappeared one was eaten by a frog, he was tiny
The plants are also doing great, I have 2 half liter bottles of co2 and dose 2 milliliters of API leaf zone a day
Today I added the lights, I added two, 5000k, 19watt lights, for a total of 38 watts
The only thing u need is the hair grass, and I'm done!
Of course, with a tank your never done but...
Tell me what you think
Thanks!

I didn't know you could have a betta with neons or anything else besides a snail.

Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Aquarium Advice mobile app

You can, it all depends on the bettas personality
I know, you have heard that they will kill anything you put with them, they can and they can't
Like this one is very very nice, even my shrimp are safe
But I had a crowntail that would even flare at me, so it all depends
But out of three bettas I've had, two are kept peacefully with other fish

What a pretty planted tank! What are you using for lights now? I've always had a hard time finding anything to fit over a 10gal that gives enough light, so if you happen to have links to your setup, that would be helpful, as well.

You should! It's not thy hard, with enough lighting, co2, liquid ferts, and root tabs it goes smoothly

I use the über basic incandescent fixture on my first 10g.

I use two u shaped mini CFLs.
ZooMed UltraSun 10 watt each.

Sand substrate.

Guys.... ALGAE ATTACK!
Seriously, believe it or not, this is the results from one week! Yea, one week!
What do I do?
Here is what I do
8 hours of light
Co2
2 ml of API leaf zone every day
What's going on?!
This happened probably because I got higher light and the leaf zone last week, that probably sparked the algae
I see diatoms, green algae, and brighter green spots of algae
What do I do?!
I plan on going to petsmart and buying 5 nerite snails so they will hopefully help
Thanks!

Oh, and on the second picture, you can clearly see the algae carpet that has formed on my sand

You need to reduce light to 6 hours a day. I forget what kind of CO2 are you using ?

You need to add Seachem Flourish comprehensive if you are sticking with liquid. Leaf Zone is not complete. Use both. And no it's NOT the Ferts it's HIGH light that's not in balance with the Ferts. Keep up on PWCs also.

What is your water reading ?

5 Nerites is too many if it's a small tank. They may starve quickly once they eat the soft Algae.

Welcome to the world of High Light/ High Tech.

You've got a nice Algae Farm going.

Ok, so I need to add seachem flourish comprehensive?
Oh, and I have 2 half liter bottles of co2, with 1/2 a cup of sugar each and like half a spoon of yeast each

I'd recommend a drop checker to get an idea of now much co2 you're getting out of your bottles. They can be bought pretty cheaply on eBay, and I know bud29 on this forum sells/has sold them too.
