I would reccomend taking media from the 29 and putting it on the 75 gallon. It will increase your BB fasterz

Would I be able to use very fine gravel instead of sand? Just did a bit more research on the pictus catfish and saw that they could live with smooth gravel or sand.

Sand is just so much easier to keep and clean. But if u want gravel then yes.
