Algae in my new tank, what can i do!?

From what I can find in Google searches, Maracyn is Erythromycin, Maracyn II Minocycline. Then I found another place that said Maracyn II was Tetracycline, which confuises the whole thing. Does Mardel have an official homepage or anything?

Wow, sorry if I steered you wrong on which antibiotic is in Marycin II I was going with what I've been told. In all actuality, I use pharmaceutical erythromycin, get it from my veterinarian, but most of them wont give it out for fish tanks.

That is great to know. I have always just tried to carefully peel it off (eewww).

I was getting algae spotting on the acrylic so used an old credit card to carefully scrape it off. I did this just before the weekly water change while the filter was still running so as to suck up the debris. Using the credit card was enough to remove the algae without scratching the acrylic
