Okay. So I got 4 female bettas from PetsMart today in hopes of starting a sorority in my 55 gallon. I have 2 angelfish in there already but I have an alternative home for them if the are not fond on the bettas. The females are not related at all and I I have to separate them I will. Tomorrow I am planning on running out and grabbing some taller plants to divide the tank up some more.

Here are some pictures..

I literally just bought them and I think a couple have bad fins but I'm excited. Any tips and tricks are welcomed!

They're all super stressed right now...

Pretty girls. I recommend upping the number to 5. Odd numbers seem to do better.

Alright thanks! My mom has a dark red girl in a 5 gallon I might steal from her :) she wants to get rid of that tank anyways haha

Here's their tank. I do have a section devoted to a male betta... I hope that's not too much stress on anyone. And the angels have an alternate home if they don't work out. Oh and like I said. I'm going to get some taller plants for the tank tomorrow

I added a couple taller plants and some more shorter ones. I grabbed them out of the 5 gallon since we're taking it down.. I don't know if you can tell but they're there haha

Haha, that's weird! Well she was sold as a female betta in her cup soo... unless that breeder also breeds sparkling gourami's and got them mixed up then I don't know how that could be :)

On a different note, I let everyone out a while ago and they have been checking the tank out. The white one with the fins tipped in pink has colored up to completely pink! She's gorgeous, I love her. My mom's red one is doing fantastic and looks gorgeous. The brightest blue one's stress stripes have disappeared and she looks great. Those three are the most active out of the five. The first girl I posted a picture of is just meandering around. She'll kinda float done and then slowly drift back up to the top, then float back down. She has extremely prominent stress stripes, but I'm hoping they'll lessen overnight. And the girl in the bottom left picture is doing.. alright. She likes to hang out in the top corner by the males section and doesn't really move a lot. She has light stress stripes but It could be because she is young. She has colored up a bit, showing off a royal blue or lavender color, depending on the light.

Here's some updated pictures of a few of the girls.. The other two are a bit harder to find. Oh, and I rescaped my tank! I know my pink girls fins look a bit bad so I'm treating her for finrot, along with another girl.

Okay. So my dark purple girl has had a large chunk missing in her tail for a couple days now and I've been trying to figure out who did it so i could take her out but there is never any chasing or fighting whenever I'm watching them. Well, I came home from sleeping over at a friends this morning to find my light lavender girl with a large piece missing! I don't know what to do. Should I get more girls to spread out the aggression along with more plants? Should I QT everyone, rearrange the tank and start again? HELP ME. I'll post pictures in a bit, after I take a shower

Sorry for the crappy quality.. Is this normal while figuring out territories? It's really freaking me out I feel like an awful owner...

Hello? Will anyone help me? Please

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get a couple more females to add to the mix before they get established. They are likely developing a pecking order and just beating up on each other a bit. It isn't uncommon for it to happen although it can sometimes get out of hand if you get a hyper aggressive betta.

Okay, thank you! I'll work on grabbing a couple more girls tomorrow. Should I just add 2 or 3 more? That would put me up to 7 or 8 girls

Oh, I've heard odd numbers are better, too soon 7 or 9 girls?
