I was just wondering if I could put my filter and heater from my 29 gallon tank onto a 40 gallon tank

You can transfer them but I don't know if they will be enough for a 40g. You may need to supplement them if they are not sufficient. Or just invest in new items if you want to keep the 29g running.

Exactly. Or buy another filter to go with it. What watt is the heater?

Hello joe...

You can answer your own question if you know that a tank needs roughly 4 watts of heat per gallon of tank volume and to properly aerate your tank, the filter needs to turn over about 4 times the volume of the tank every hour. Now that you know the info., you can make an educated decision.

Have fun!
