I have had an established 37 gallon tank for over a year with weekly water changes and regular testing of the water parameters. I just bought a used 55 Gallon tank that has been empty for about 2 months. Would I be able to move over my filter and sand from the 37 to 55 to keep them "established" or do I need to do the entire cycling again? I will be adding an additional new filter and some extra sand to the 55, but I was just wondering if the stuff I do move to the 55 would keep everything in balance.

Thanks for all advice given!

Yeah you can. You might have a tiny cycle though(doubt it) but i think you will be allright. Just make sure you use the old filter for a while to seed the new one. And feed lightly for a little bit

Thanks. That sounds like the plan. I just wanted to be sure it was possible

I did that when upgrading from 55 to 125 and it didnt have a cycle. I just fed light for the first 2 weeks
