Can i make my own ammonia?

So I have a 29 gallon tank and i am still cycling it. So can I make my own ammonia by putting a bunch of flakes in a small cup so I can take the water from the cup and put some in my 30 gallon so my bb can have something to eat?

Yeah just add fish food to your 30 gallon directly. As it rots it will produce ammonia

I mean it like putting a bunch of flakes in this small cup and then getting water from the cup so I don't need to put flakes inside my tank.

I really don't see the need for the extra steps.
