I have a few granite rocks from my backyard that I want to add to my tank (eventually to hold down a few real plants). How would you clean them? Just a good scrub under tap water? Bleach/water mix and rinse? Vinegar? Soak them (if yes, how long?)?

Thanks!

Get a NEW sponge and scrub the heck outta it! You can use a diluted water/bleach combo, but I don't like to use any bleach with my aquarium stuff. If going this route, let sit outside for a few days.

You can also wash them really well, boil them (if they can fit submerged in a pot), let them cool without removing them from the pot, then wash them again (if you want)

I'm currently doing that for stackable rocks I found at the beach today. I'm putting them in my freshwater tank.

Whoa... Careful! It's extremely dangerous to boil rocks!!!!!
