Hi there,

I'm converting my tank from tropical to a Malawi cichlid tank. My question is do I need to recycle my filters? And is there anything that should be changed other than the obvious hardness and pH levels.

Thanks in advance

You shouldn't need to re cycle, but might encounter a mini cycle during transition.
What is your substrate?
You may want a cichlid specific sub to help buff the water?

I'm looking at buying the substrate this week, is there any good black substrates? Thanks for your reply

Most often you wont need to mess with your water parameters? Whats the ph measurement normally?

Ph is sitting on 7.0 roughly and hardness is very soft GH 3ish
