Deep in the backwoods of PA. Seriously.
I would like to start cycling my 55 soon. All my tanks have been cycled using sponge filters and/or water from established tanks. I would like to do a fish-in cycle.
Why not just do what you've been doing? You may ask.
Well honestly it's just an excuse to get more fish.
Should I use feeder comets (QT'd of course)?
They have no stomach and would produce a lot of ammonia.
Other ideas?
If it would be better to use the same system I'm using now I'll just do that again.

If you have the idea of using goldfish to do a fish-in cycle for your 55g, what do you plan on doing with them once your tank is cycled?? Do you plan on doing daily pwcs to keep them alive while cycling? Why not just do a fishless cycle with some seeded media from your other tanks?

I'd say just use some filter material from your other tanks to seed and cycle it for a few days. You have all you need already so why try to take a risk by trying something different.
