Cycling question

Prior to setting up this tank I had it's filter(AC500) on an established tank for 3 weeks. I set up this 29 gallon tank w/ crushed coral. I put the equivalent to 6 cups of established gravel into the new tank. That was about 10 days ago. I've been testing for Ammonia since the 3rd day. Well today I tested for everything and found ONLY 10 [acronym:c5074c3ae0="Parts per Million"]ppm[/acronym:c5074c3ae0] of Nitrate.

This means my tank is cycled right?
If so I'm the man!

If you have no ammonia and no nitrites then yes you have a cycled tank. It is amazing what a seeded filter can do for instant cycle.

No doubt. I've set up several tanks this year and this one cycled the fastest.
In my mind it instantly cycled because it never showed any signs of the 2 more deadly toxins.

If you aren't using anything to feed tha bacteria in your tank, then it is just dying off. You must feed the bacteria w/an ammonia source.

Sounds ok then. Generally I upgrade my tanks by just moving my filters over to the larger tank, along w/decor. I usually change the substrate, or bring that over too.
