DIY Moving bed filter help

hi peeps have a few questions i was ver interested in building a moving bed filter..so i did but at the local pet store all i can get is ceramic rig, everything works but the media does not 'move' does this defeat the purpose of a moving bed filter ?

You can cut up drinking straws and use those for the moving bed filter. But you're right using ceramic rings would be pointless

Get the plastic media from eBay. There are few brands available. To start your search look for k1 kaldness.
