Dwarf gourami tank stocking

Ok i have this 29 gallon tank that i was planning to start. I wanted 1 dwarf gourami, along with a few zebra loaches. But i dont know what else to put in, i dont want mollies, guppies, platies, i find them a bit boring. What other fish could i add, i heard Bolivian Rams would work but upon research i saw they can become aggresive. So what should i add?

Personally I'd do Dwarf Chain Loaches but you could do a school of peaceful tetra's like Cardinals, Rummynose, or Lemons. And a small school of Hatchetfish or Threadfin Rainbowfish for top level activity.
