So I'm currently at 5 ember tetras and some amanos in a moderately planted 10 gallon. I plan on getting more plants and adding one or two sparkling gouramis but what is the max # of embers I could keep here?(the more tetras the better they school). Should I go with 8 or will 10 be fine? For those not farmiliar with the ember tetra, they are some of the smallest known tetra species, consume very little, and only get to be a out 2 cm.

I'd say 8-10. I have a group in a 40 breeder. Their mouths are small so I make sure to feed them smaller foods like New Life Spectrum pellets .5mm size or Hikari pellets for small fish. Ground up flakes work well too. Any larger frozen foods like shrimp or bloodworms I tend to cut up into small pieces (maybe I'm just paranoid lol). They can be greedy when feeding.

Yup I use hikari micro pellets. So you thing I could get away with 10 embers plus the sparkling gourami?
